Hylofit and Equestrian Events, Inc. announce new partnership showcasing an innovative in-ride, real-time heart rate monitoring system for both horse and rider
Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the iconic Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event, and Hylofit are pleased to announce that Hylofit has signed on as a new sponsor of this year’s event.
Taking place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, April 26-29, 2018, The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is the epitome of three-day eventing competitions in the United States. The Hylofit horse and rider heart rate monitoring system will be showcased as part of the dressage test ride by Liz Halliday-Sharp and her equine partner, Deniro Z, on Thursday morning of the event (4/26) and again on Friday during the lunch hour (4/27).
Horses and riders are athletes who work together and monitoring the heart rate of both is a valuable mechanism for tracking and understanding the individual effort levels of each athlete during a training session. At all levels of human athletic performance, heart rate and fitness tracking devices have become pervasive due to the important insights they provide. Hylofit has capitalized on best-practices in the human space and produced a sophisticated product tailored specifically to the needs of the equine athlete, providing immediate objective insights that go beyond rider “feel” to allow you to “Know Your Ride™” like never before.
Hylofit is an unobtrusive wearable device (nested along the girth) that delivers accurate, real-time feedback so training adjustments can be made from the saddle. The product is available on iOS and Android. There is also an auxiliary watch app for convenient real-time heart rate display during the ride. Hylofit captures horse and rider heart rates along with other movement metrics, building a performance and competition baseline for both athletes and delivering an objective view into the interplay between the two athletes. Hylofit’s detailed insights help improve training results and promote the overall health and well-being of the horse.
One of only six annual Four Star three-day events in the world and the only one in the Western Hemisphere, The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event annually welcomes over 80,000 spectators. Televised on NBC, the competition reaches over 115 million households across the country.
“Our fans will love getting to see the real-time benefits of Hylofit at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event,” said EEI Executive Director Lee Carter. “Their technology, and the insights it will deliver, will be tremendous assets as horse and rider look to improve their overall performance.”
Kate Motley, one of the founders of Hylofit, said “We are excited about this new collaboration with The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day event and Equestrian Events, Inc. This is a great opportunity to introduce our innovative horse and rider heart rate monitoring system to a passionate community of riders and horse owners. We hope that this inaugural year is the beginning of a long-standing presence at the ‘Best Weekend All Year.'”
