Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass (JA), the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs, has been chosen as the Official Charity of the 2018 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event (LRK3DE). Two special fundraising activities for JA will be held during the prestigious event when it returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky., April 26-29.
“Junior Achievement is an amazing organization that really prepares young people for the real world,” said Stewart Perry, president of Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), organizer of the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event. “JA has provided volunteers for our official event shop for many years, and EEI has made numerous contributions to them for their participation. We are proud to name them as the Official Charity of the 2018 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event.”
The official charity receives a portion of the proceeds from two fundraising activities: the Barley, Barrels and Bluegrass Dinner and the fourth annual Head Up Heels Down 5K. The Barley, Barrels, and Bluegrass Dinner will be held on Thursday, April 26, at the Livery in downtown Lexington. Founded in 1868, the Livery was the city’s largest stable for horses and carriages riding in and out of town. This event will feature uniquely Kentucky food and drink. Tickets will be available the week of February 12. Check the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event Facebook page for updates and ticket availability.
Junior Achievement’s unique volunteer-delivered programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and help strengthen their communities.
“We are honored to have been chosen by EEI as the Official Charity of the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event,” says Lynn Hudgins, president of Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass. “We have been involved with this wonderful event since 2006 and recognize the prestige that this distinction brings to Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass.”
Junior Achievement partners with volunteers from the community to teach elementary students about their roles as individuals, workers and consumers, and to prepare middle and high school students for key economic and workforce issues they will face.
The core values of Junior Achievement are:
• Belief in the boundless potential of young people
• Commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship
• Passion for what we do and honesty, integrity, and excellence in how we do it
• Respect for the talents, creativity, perspectives, and backgrounds of all individuals
• Belief in the power of partnership and collaboration
• Conviction in the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning
‘Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass,’ serves 36 Kentucky counties.
Known as the “Best Weekend All Year,” the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of only six annual ‘Four Star’ three-day events in the world, and the only one in the Western Hemisphere. The event draws more than 80,000 spectators to the Kentucky Horse Park each year to watch many of the world’s top eventing superstars. In 2017, the support of these spectators allowed EEI to make donations in excess of $100,000 to over 25 different charitable organizations. Some of the organizations who received gifts include Central Kentucky Riding for Hope, the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, United States Pony Clubs, and New Vocations.
The 2018 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event will again offer $400,000 in prize money and give competitors a chance at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, which is awarded to any rider who wins the Land Rover Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four-Star Events in succession. This year’s event will also be a qualifying selection trial for the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team that will represent the U.S. in the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games™ in September.
The Dubarry of Ireland Nations Team Challenge will also be featured again this year, awarding $20,000 in prize money to the winning nation with the fewest penalties after adding together the final scores of the three highest-placed individuals from that nation.
New this year is a $225,000 FEI CSI3* Invitational Show Jumping Grand Prix, to be held in Rolex Stadium on Saturday following the completion of Cross-Country. There will also be a $35,000 1.45m FEI ranking class, also in Rolex Stadium, after Friday afternoon’s Dressage. There is no charge for Grand Prix or ranking class tickets, but seats must be reserved through the ticketing system ahead of time.
Ticket options include single-day, three-day (Fri-Sat-Sun) and four-day general admissions, as well as group sales and reserved grandstand seating. All grounds admission tickets include general parking, admission to the Kentucky Horse Park and International Trade Fair, but do not include access to the competition in the Rolex Stadium. Reserved grandstand seating is sold separately from grounds admission and traditionally the best seats are sold out by early February, so everyone is encouraged to place orders as early as possible. For a unique world-class Kentucky experience, special Ringside Hospitality packages are available.
The Sponsor Village and International Trade Fair offer exquisite shopping and browsing with almost 200 booths and tents. There are a variety of food vendors and other entertaining attractions each day. Ticket holders also receive general admission to the Kentucky Horse Park, America’s only theme park dedicated to horses.
The 2018 Land Rover line-up features six models – the full-size Range Rover and Land Rover Discovery, the midsize Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar, and the compact Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque – each with their own defining characteristics, personality and positioning. Ticket holders are invited to test-drive the latest models on a specially designed off-road demonstration course to experience the brand’s Breadth of Capability, all-new towing technologies, and refined luxury.
Tickets for the 2018 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event can be ordered online at www.KentuckyThreeDayEvent.com/tickets or over the phone (859-254-8123). Groups of 15 or more are encouraged to call into the box office to place their order. Further information on the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is available at www.KentuckyThreeDayEvent.com.
