Alec started his career as a professional athlete in eventing 1992 and regularly competed at events of the highest level including finishing in the top 25 at both Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials. He is a Level 3 Cross Country Designer and Techical Delegate. He has officiated notable events such as Badminton, Adelaide, Burghley, WEG Normandy and the Rio Di Janeiro Olympics. In addition to his officiating experience Alec has served as the Deputy Chair of the FEI Eventing Committee, British Eventing National Safety Committee and has competed at the highest level.



When not officiating, Alec owns a successful Event Management and Consultancy business specializing in project infrastructure, Equestrian Facility and Course Design. Alec, married with two sons and resides in Brancaster, England.
