About Alexa Thompson

Alexa Thompson was born in Glenwood Springs, CO, and raised in Bartonville, TX. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a Minor in Family Sciences from the University of Kentucky and worked full-time in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit before transitioning to a full-time career in horse training and competition.

Now based at her family’s Clear View Farm in Lexington, KY, with her husband, Ciaran Thompson, Alexa specializes in young horse development, coaching riders, and competing at high levels in Eventing and Show Jumping.

As a rider and trainer, Alexa has competed up to the 4* level of Eventing, shown in the 1.30m jumpers, and enjoys competing in a range of other disciplines. She is one of only three U.S. riders to earn all three United States Pony Clubs (USPC) 'A' certifications—in Dressage, Show Jumping, and Eventing. Alexa has trained under leading equestrians in the United States, spent time training in Ireland and France, and is mentored by a European 5* rider and Olympic medalist.

With aspirations of representing the U.S. on senior teams and competing at the 5* level, Alexa is equally committed to giving back to the sport she cherishes. She serves on several other boards and committees on both local and national levels, where her well-rounded background helps her bring a unique perspective to equestrianism. Alexa hopes to contribute to the longevity of the sport she loves.

Recently, Alexa accepted an apprenticeship to become a National Examiner for the USPC, further supporting the development of future riders. When not competing, Alexa dedicates her time to teaching students and training horses at Clear View Farm, where she strives to cultivate equestrian success and enjoyment at every level.
