Ian Thornton is a Pittsburgh native with a knack for blending technology and tradition. After earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, he set out for Lexington, Kentucky, to begin his career at Lexmark. But the allure of the equestrian world soon took hold, leading to a 14-year tenure at the United States Equestrian Federation, where he served as both Software Engineer and Director of Project Management.
Ian’s expertise in technology and project management later propelled him into the aviation industry in 2022, but his heart remained firmly rooted in the equestrian community. A dedicated volunteer, he has played key roles in major events at the Kentucky Horse Park, including the 2010 World Equestrian Games' VIP support team. His time in Lexington has deepened his passion for the Bluegrass region, equestrian sport, and the Kentucky Three-Day Event.
With a drive to advance equestrian sport and bridge gaps through technology, Ian thrives at the intersection of innovation and tradition—ensuring that the horse world moves forward without losing its storied past.
