About Jay Hambly

Jay Hambly, born in Somerville NJ, moved to Guelph Ontario Canada with his family when he was 10. Jay is a level 3 FEI Cross Country course designer who discovered his talent as a designer through building cross country courses to pay for his riding. Jay competed to the top of the sport and still actively competes. 


Jay is a unique course designer, as he is a builder as well. He has had some fantastic building experiences, such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, which have enhanced his designing skills. Recently, Jay was named as the designer of Rebecca Farm 4* Event and is honored to be assistant designer at the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event. 


Jay and his wife, Pip, run an eventing farm in Fergus, Ontario, Canada where they host two horse trials a year. They winter at their place in Williston, Florida with their horses and cattle dogs.
