Lynn received his Master of Arts (M.A.) in English and Journalism from the University of Kentucky. He served as the director of member services at AAA Bluegrass from 1997 – 1980 and the public relations director of Central Baptist Hospital from 1981 – 1999. Since 1999 he has been the owner of printLEX. 

Lynn served on the EEI board from 1997 through 2020.
